Geo Oceans was engaged to provide ROV support for a subsea pipeline decommissioning and construction project in New Caledonia.
Geo Oceans deployed small ROVs and highly experienced team members to the region and operated from the main crane barge as well as chase boats (chartered by Geo Oceans) to support subsea crane and lifting operations, pigging, new pipeline and stabilisation laying, inspections, independent task status tracking for the operator, wharf inspections and ad hoc subsea tasks.
The work took place over several months and included both 12 hour and 24 hour operations. In addition to ROV operations, our team supported the main contractor with technical advice regarding subsea operations and assisted in development and operation of other subsea cameras, lighting systems, remote live data transmission and a range of technical solutions to support their operations.
A Sat diving vessel was in the area with sat divers and work class ROVs. Our involvement enabled the client to focus the high cost DP vessel resources to the critical spool change out scopes thereby significantly reducing cost and DP vessel days.
